Tree Care

Young Tree Development through Pruning

All work done on trees by Schilling Horticulture Group is managed by a Certified Arborist. Occasionally, some work will be performed by a qualified horticulturist or landscape worker, but only under the direct supervision of a Certified Arborist. We set and hold this standard because we understand that trees are the backbone of any landscape, and more than any other plant, their care should be thoughtful and sound. Trees are the biggest investment in the landscape, and they are difficult, if not impossible, to replace at maturity.

Many of the problems and challenges that trees face in their life are best addressed in their youth through good structural pruning. Structural pruning is based on an understanding of the physics and biology of trees, and helps trees to live long and healthy lives, requiring less maintenance in the long run. It is critical that such pruning be performed by a highly qualified and knowledgeable professional. Such pruning should occur at least once per year for the first 5 to 10 years after a tree is planted.
